Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the 8-week MedX exercise on the lumbar muscle strength and subjective pain of spondylolysis patient. For this study, 24 patients were surveyed who were diagnosed with the spondylolysis in an examination such as X-ray by specialized medical doctor in 'P' spine exercise center located in Seoul. The patients could stretch and bend the waist joint in the anatomical normal range of waist joint movement from 0¡Æ to 72¡Æ, and their lumbar muscle strength and their subjective pain were analyzed. From the analysis, the following conclusion was drawn: The degree of pain was evaluated by the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS), one of the pain indices used the most commonly in the clinical and pain laboratories. MedX Lumbar Extension Strength Machine was used to evaluate the lumbar extension strength machine, and the arbitrary iso-metric lumbar extension strength was measured at 0¡Æ,12¡Æ, 24¡Æ, 36¡Æ, 48¡Æ, 60¡Æ, 72¡Æ both before and after the exercise. Based on the result, The MedX exercise had a statistically significant effect on the subjective pain and the lumbar muscle strength of spondylolysis patient.
